Pass It On

Do you believe that God answers prayer? Really believe it? There are very few things I know in life for sure; this is one. It amazes me, to be honest. And it amazes me that not only does He hear and answer, but for some unfathomable reason He solicits our help in His redemptive plan. He wants us interceding on behalf of others.

This morning as I neared the end of my walk, I asked God if He had a word for me. Maybe for my blog, maybe in some other area of my life. As I was going around a corner, my thoughts were interrupted by an old man standing by his car. He didn't speak to me or even see me, I don't think. But when I remember to do so, I pray for those people I come across during my morning walks. Usually I say hello as well, but he was too far from me and I wasn't sure he'd hear me anyway. So I prayed for this old man standing by his car.

As I was doing so, I thought of the movie Fallen. Have you seen it? It seems almost sacrilegious to think of that movie during a prayer. Denzel Washington is a cop who is investigating murders. As it turns out, a demon is possessing people and causing this mayhem. He goes from person to person through physical contact. During my walk, I thought that the Holy Spirit is way more powerful than that demon in the story was. He doesn't need physical contact to indwell in His people. But it got me thinking about something else. I am resolved to ask God's blessing on to the people I come in contact with, whether I physically touch them or just see them as I pass.

So I'm blogging this, because I want to ask you to join me. I truly believe God hears us. If, as Christians, we are actively praying for not only our families, our nation, our church, etc, but for each and every person we pass on the street or sit by at the movie theater or interact with at the grocery store, could it not have huge repercussions? Is this not a habit that would glorify the God we serve? We may never see the results, but I'm pretty sure it could bring nothing but good.

See, God gave me a word for my blog this morning.
